ICE FISHING CONTEST RULES PELICAN LAKE – ORR, MN
This contest is scheduled for February 18, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm at Pelican Lake – Orr, MN.
Minnesota Fishing Regulations in effect. Minnesota fishing license required. An entry fee of $25 will be charged per hole per adult and $12 per hole per child (12 & under). Half price for second hole.
Contestants in the ice fishing contest cannot fish outside the designated area prior to contest start at 12:00 noon.
All ice fishing contest holes will be in a row approximately five feet apart. Any holes that have been drilled the day before by fisherman will not be accepted as ice fishing contest holes.
Prizes are determined by largest weight and time registered. In the event of a tie the first fish registered wins. For example, if three four-pound Northern Pike are the largest fish entered in the contest, the one registered earliest will take 1st prize. The fish entered next till take 2nd place and the one registered the latest will take 3rd place. In order to determine any other place such as 95th all fish are counted in each weight/times category stating from the largest entered in the contest and then proceeding down to the 95th and so forth.
At all times before, during, and after you are responsible for your safety and actions.
Failure to comply with the contest rules will result in contestant disqualification.
Contestants must fish in the area designated for the contest and will be required to have his/her ticket visible at all times. Ticket checks along with bucket inspections will be performed before entering the fishing contest area. Pail tickets must be visible on pails at all times.
All fish entered must be brought to the judge’s stand immediately and alive. Dead or frozen fish are ineligible. The decisions of the judges are final. Pails will be provided as part of your registration. They can only be picked up the day of the fishing contest at the American Legion in Orr, Minnesota starting at 9:00am. PLEASE BRING FISH TO THE WEIGHT STATION ALIVE BY HAVING WATER IN THE PAIL, AS THIS IS A CATCH AND RELEASE CONTEST.
Contestants will not be allowed to drill their own holes. All holes will be pre-drilled within the fishing area.
Paid contestants who are fishing will be the only ones allowed to enter the fishing area until 3:00pm at which time any spectators may enter the fishing area.
You may register as many fish as you want, but only one prize will be awarded per contestant. Contestants qualifying for more than one prize will have their largest fish qualify for a prize.
Contestants may fish 2 lines per entry hole.
Contestants must have their pail marked with their pail ticket before they can leave their pail at a hole. No ticket on pail, no pail on hole, no saved holes therefore making that hole open to contestants who have their pail ticket on their pail. Contestants must look after their own pail only. No saving holes for your buddies.
FISHING HOLES WILL BE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. (IF YOU ARE FIRST IN THE FISHING AREA AND HAVE CHOSEN YOUR HOLE YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PAIL TICKET VISIABLE ON THE PAIL BEFORE SETTING IT ON A HOLE, NO TICKET ON PAIL, NO SAVED HOLES.)
No motorized vehicles in the contest area other than contest officials and police personnel. Hence fish must be brought to the judge’s stand by foot.
Sleeping bags, blankets, small coolers, containers, heaters, chairs, and depth finders are permitted in the designated fishing area.
Contestants will NOT be allowed to use fish houses or portable fish houses. No tarps, no shelters.
NO ALCOHOL.
All baitfish must be four inches or smaller. Any baitfish over four inches will not be allowed on the ice.
All Contestants and others hereby consent to the use of any names, photographs or likenesses of themselves to be used in the promotion of our contest, including but not limited to print, radio, television, or other media.
The Orr Area Chamber of Commerce thanks you for supporting our efforts to protect the environment and request that you remove refuse-including cigarette butts-from the ice area when you leave. Glass containers are not allowed in contest area and will be confiscated by and forfeited to tournament officials. Waste containers are provided.
Registration starts at 9:00am the day of the contest at the Orr American Legion Post #480 in Orr, MN. The Legion is located just north of the stoplight behind the café.
